Deepika Rajawat, the lawyer for Kathua child’s family alleges she can be raped, killed
The lawyer representing an 8-year-old girl raped and killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua alleged that she can be raped and killed. Deepika S Rajawat said she fears that she can be raped or killed for representing the girl’s family. She said that she will knock the door of the supreme court to request for the protection, as her, and the lives of the girl’s family is under threat.
Ms. Rajawat said on Sunday that she was threatened by Jammu Bar Association. She alleged that she was threatened yesterday that ‘we will not forgive you. In a statement, she said that she is not sure that how long she will live.
There is a fear of security for the girls family as well as the Lawyer representing them, because of which the girl’s father is this morning requested supreme court to shift the trial to the Chandigarh.
Ms. Rajawat said that Kathua is not a right place to conduct the trials of the case.
The shocking incident of an 8-year-old girls abduction, gang rape in a temple has driven thousands of protestors on streets.
Keeping the situation of Kathua in mind the Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed two special public prosecutors. Both of the prosecutors are Sikhs so that public should not think that the progress in the case is being polarised as all the accused in the case are Hindu and the child raped was Muslim.
