Former forest minister Lal Singh says Mehbooba Mufti should resign
Former minister Lal Singh after resigning from the post of forest minister has given a statement that chief minister Mehbooba Mufti should resign taking the responsibility for the incident. Both, Former Forest Minister Lal Singh and Industries Minister Chandra Prakash Ganga had addressed a rally in support of the men arrested in Kathua rape and murder case. Mehbooba Mufti told ally BJP that continuation of Lal Singh and Chandra Prakash Ganga in the government had become untenable.
An 8-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua went missing on January 10 and her body was found in the jungle in very terrible condition on January 17. After the initial investigation, it came out that the little girl was a victim of gang rape. She was abducted and kept locked in a small village temple where she was brutally gang-raped multiple times for many days. It was found that she was even raped even after she was dead. Later it came to light that there were 8 people involved in this horrifying crime. Accused include police officers and former government officials.
Instead of protesting against the accused Lal Singh and Chandra Prakash Ganga had addressed rallies in support of them. They called the arrest of the accused as “jungle raj”. Lal Singh in a rally said, “Why such a hullabaloo on the death of this one girl, many such girls have died here.”
They both resigned on April 13 and immediately after that party asked them to visit Kathua to pacify angry locals who were demanding a CBI probe into the horrific crime.
