Satish Kumar earns gold for India in Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast 2018
Satish Kumasatish Kumar Sivalingam Sivalingam won a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games for India. He earned his gold medal in 77 kg weightlifting at Gold Coast 2018. With Satish’s victory, India got its third gold medal in Commonwealth 2018. Including three gold medals, India has won one silver and bronze medal as well. Overall India has won five medals in 2018 Commonwealth Games 2018. All of the five medals have been won by weightlifters.
Satish had won the gold in 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, Scotland. Repeating his victory he has won 2018 gold medal at Gold Coast, Australia by defeating Jack Oliver from England. Jack Oliver won the silver medal and the bronze medal went to Francois Etoundi from Australia.
Satish Kumar became a 77 kg weightlifting champion of Commonwealth 2018 after finishing with a combined score of 317 (snatch, clean and jerk). Australian Showman Etoundi injured his shoulder after his final lift. He lifted a total 305 kg (136 kg + 169 kg) .
